Maria was born in American Samoa. She learned Siapo from her mother-in-law Siapo Artist Marylyn Walker and her mother Mary Pritchard. Maria has been creating Siapo for over twenty years. Maria has passed the tradition of Siapo on to her daughters. She continues to create Siapo in the tradition of her teachers.
